Gustavo CarloDr. Gustavo Carlo is the Director of the Center for Family Policy and Research. Dr. Carlo is also Millsap Professor of Diversity and Multicultural Studies in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. His research interests are focused on children and adolescents' moral development, with a particular emphasis on parenting, personality, and culture. Before arriving at the University of Missouri, Dr. Carlo co-founded the Latino Research Initiative and the Latino Youth Mentoring Achievement Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Lisa Driskel HawxbyLisa Driskel Hawxby, Director serves as the primary administrator for the Opportunities in a Professional Education Network (OPEN) Initiative. OPEN's projects span three key areas: standards development (Core Competencies), workforce data collection (MOPD Registry), and quality assurance. Lisa has a Bachelor's from Missouri State University, and is working on her MEd as a proud MU Tiger! She has a variety of experience in the social service field from providing direct service to developing and administrating programs serving children, youth and their families. Lisa is passionate about professional development and is committed to serving and supporting the early childhood, school-age and youth development professionals in Missouri.

Christina EverettChristina Everett is a Program Coordinator with OPEN. Christina has a Bachelor’s in English from Truman State University and a Masters in Education from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Prior to coming to OPEN, she taught high school English and worked as the director of a national tutoring program. In addition, Christina taught a college Child Development class online.

Carolyn Stemmons is the Assistant Director for the Missouri Head Start - State Collaboration Office. She has a Bachelor's in Home Economics and Associates degree in Child Development from Central Missouri State University. Carolyn previously held the position of Program Development Specialist with the Missouri Department of Social Services, Children's Division. Her additional experience in early childhood includes eight years with a local Head Start program as a Nutrition Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, and District Manager.

Terri Tatum is Fiscal Administrator for the Center for Family Policy & Research and Coordinator for the Institute for Professional Development.

Kathy ThornburgDr. Kathy Thornburg directs the Institute for Professional Development at the Center and conducts research projects. She is a retired professor from the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Missouri. Kathy has over 45 years of experience teaching, directing early childhood programs, and conducting research and served as President of the National Association for the Education of Young Children from 2000-2002.

Stacey WrightStacey Wright is the Director of the Missouri Head Start - State Collaboration Office. Stacey serves on the Governor’s Coordinating Board for Early Childhood, the State Interagency Coordinating Council and a variety of other boards, councils and committees within the early childhood comprehensive system. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development Family Studies from the University of Missouri. Additional experience includes working at a local Head Start program, teaching and directing at child care programs, and serving as an adjunct faculty member for a local college.
