About this Project
This four-year project is designed to evaluate a teen parenting education and support program (Right From The Start, RFTS). The project is implemented by the Parents as Teachers National Center with funding from a federal grant from the Office of Adolescent Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The RFTS program will bring additional resources to adolescent parents living in Missouri school districts with some of the highest rates of teenage pregnancies using two curriculums developed by Parents as Teachers—“Partnering with Teen Parents” and “Fatherhood”. The curriculums use a combination of the Parents as Teachers model with father-focused meetings. We plan to evaluate the effectiveness of this program in improving the teen parents’ psychological and behavioral health, and parenting practices.
